Kevin Loney was named Consultant of the Year by ORACLE Magazine in 2002 for his volunteer leadership of disaster recovery efforts for systems lost on 9/11 in 1WTC. He is an internationally recognized expert in the design, development, administration, and tuning of Oracle databases. He has designed and implemented both transaction processing systems and data warehouses. As the lead DBA for a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company, he designed and implemented the enterprise's data access architecture and database administration practices. As a consultant, he provided expert assistance to companies for the implementation and tuning of their business-critical Oracle applications.

Since 2007, he has been a corporate leader in the finance industry, leading groups responsible for the development and implementation of Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance, and technology infrastructure systems. In conjunction with business leaders, he has developed and implemented the technology strategy, with 30 to 50 such projects underway at any time. He has initiated and implemented cross-business efforts, including technology forums, education sessions, and performance tuning initiatives. In addition, he leads the teams responsible for information management (data architecture, modeling, and database administration).

As a community leader, he has leveraged his experience as a stem cell donor to lead multiple bone marrow donor registry drives. His annual marathon campaign has raised over $25,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He has initiated and provided leadership for programs addressing homelessness and hunger in the region.

In addition to his technical work, he is the best-selling author of Oracle books in the world. The books on which he has been the sole or primary author include Oracle11g DBA Handbook and ORACLE Advanced Tuning and Administration (for database administrators), and Oracle 11g: The Complete Reference and ORACLE SQL & PL/SQL Annotated Archives (for developers). He is also the author of numerous technical articles in industry magazines, and has regularly presented at Oracle user conferences in North America and Europe where he has been among the highest-rated presenters.
